National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a National level medical/ dental entrance examination conducted annually by the NTA. The rank in NEET exam helps the eligible candidates to secure admission in the topmost medical and dental colleges of the country. The courses that get covered under NEET are MBBS, BDS, veterinary and all the AYUSH courses of the country.
NEET 2019 will be conducted on May 5 in over 154 centres pan India. The exam will be of 3 hours. The admit card of NEET 2019 will release on April 15. After the completion of the exam, the answer keys of the same will be released by NTA tentatively during the last week of May. The results for the same will be declared on June 5 which will be followed by the counselling process.
NEET Eligibility
NEET 2019 is open to the candidates who adhere to the eligibility criteria laid down by NTA. To sit for NEET 2019, a candidate must be under 25 years of age for general category and for the reserved category the age of the candidate must be 30 years or below. According to the further points in the eligibility criteria, a candidate needs to be an Indian citizen and must have either completed or is appearing in the class 12 board examinations from a recognised board in the country. During the studies in school, a candidate must have studied subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The students from open or private schools with Biology as an additional subject can also take up the exam subject to final verdicts of Supreme Court. The exam is conducted in nearly 11 languages like Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu etc.
Paper Pattern of NEET 2019
The exam will have three sections- physics, chemistry and biology. It will be conducted in offline/ pen paper mode and have a total of 180 questions- 45 questions in physics, 45 questions in chemistry and 90 questions in biology. The exam will be of a total of 720 marks, and there will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for not attempting any question in any section.
NEET Admit Card
The NEET 2019 admit card will be released on April 15. Candidates can download they admit card from the official NTA website using their login ID and Password that they got at the time of registration. The downloaded admit card will contain details like candidate information, date of exam, venue of the exam, the timing of exam, photograph and signature of candidates etc. If any candidate finds an issue with the NEET 2019 admit card, he/she should immediately get I touch with the respective authority and get the issue resolved at the earliest.
NEET Result and Counselling
NEET 2019 result can be obtained from the official website after the result declaration, and the seat allotment will depend on the score, rank and college preference of the candidate made during counselling.The counselling program will commence from the second week of June. The results of which will be announced in the last week of the month. Under this process, candidates will be allotted the colleges by rank secured by them in the NEET 2019 examination. Following this will be the second round of counselling beginning early in July, and the results of the same will be available by the mid of the month. The candidates who could not secure a seat in a medical or dental college via the First counselling can get one in the second counselling process. The counselling process will be common for the 15% All India quota seats and the rest of the seats will be allocated through the counselling of respective states.
Exam Day Guidelines
On the examination day, candidates must stick to the guidelines that are laid down by NTA. Candidate must bring a valid ID proof and an extra photograph on the day of the exam. Additionally, students should also take note of the dress code decided by the exam conducting body under which only light coloured half sleeved clothes are allowed. Clothes having heavy embroideries are a strict No! Open footwear like slippers and sandals are permitted whereas shoes are prohibited. Candidates wearing customized clothes such as burkhas or turbans need to reach the centre one hour before the examination for effective frisking process.
